The best know of Central American Indias is the Aztec and Maya. The soceity of the Aztec and Maya held religion to the utmost highest priority. Aztec and Mayan religious practices were unique and sometimes barbaric. From daily rituals to elaborate ceremonies dedicated to the worship of deities the Aztec and Maya were ensconced in their religion. Aztec and Mayan religious zeal indirectly contributed to their demise.
The main similiraty betwen the two societies shared the same god. Both regardless of who was chosen it was of the highest honor to be sacrificed.Tezcatlipoca was said to be a magic and an omniscient god, most likely the chief of the active gods. One similiratyu of the gods that the Maya were most concerned about appeasing was Itzamma, the father of the gods, who can be related to the Aztec`s Huitzilopochtl. On the other hand, the Maya, like the Aztecs, believed tht their world would end with earthquakes. Therefore, they were extremely concerned with keeping these and the other gods of their pantheon.
Nevertheless, there are some conspicuous differents The aztecs, who arrived in central Mexico central in the twelfth century A.D, borrowed many of their religious ideas from the Toltecs, whilst, the Aztecs differed from these earlier cultures in that they were far more bloodthirsty and warlike. It can be seen that the Aztecs placed a great deal of faith in their gods. In addition other differences is that the belief the Maya to always serve the needs of their godsa in order to keep the gods from becoming aroused.
In summary, Aztec and Mayan religious practices are very the same, perhaps we can see just as many similarities.
